Program Overview
Treatment plans are established with
each child to plan how he can
acquire skills based on their individual
needs, circumstances and abilities.
The areas included in the treatment
plan are as follows:
|
Education
Young men will be placed in a high school or GED setting, based on the young adult's individual educational plan. In some cases, New Horizon will assist appropriate candidates to enroll in a community college program.
|
Living Skills Development
New Horizon offers each young adult the opportunity to learn skills such as basic cooking, obtaining employment, maintaining and balancing a check book and other necessary abilities needed as a young adult.
|
Counseling Program
Provided in multiple forums, these sessions are supervised by a masters level social worker or counselor. The program includes Individual Therapy, Focus Groups, Chemical Dependency, Peer Group and Family Therapy.
|
Vocational
New Horizon will work with residents to obtain employment or enrolling in vocational skills training. The New Horizon Youth Homes staff will maintain contact with the young adult's employer or vocational trainer to ensure that he is attending and actively participating.
